Unregistered firearms do not have to be loose firearms

Examining the false concepts behind loose firearms and why registration doesn't reduce gun crime. When discussing matters of policy, it's important to define our terms because cloudy thinking can lead to misunderstanding or even outright deceit. Gun control advocates in particular like to use sneaky tactics: they tend to make assertions and then use the grey area of confusion to make their point. Let's take the concept of 'loose firearms'. For most people, the term is just shorthand for 'guns that are in some way illegal and used by bad guys'. People also tend to talk about loose firearms and unregistered firearms while using the two interchangeably. A gun control advocate may say that if each firearm is not registered to the individual, the number of loose (or 'bad-guy' owned) firearms would increase. Martial Law confiscation of guns remembered

On this eve of the 38th Anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines, we recall with outrage how one of the first acts the dictator Ferdinand Marcos's was to proclaim that all persons shall not posses or carry any firearm outside of residence. The alleged basis was lawless terrorism, open rebellion, and assassinations of government officials - all of which were later proven to be false, fabricated, and concocted - which sounds chillingly similar to recent orders today by the PNP tightening rules on firearms. Nevertheless, the infamous General Order N. 6 was used by the Military and Philippine Constabulary as a basis to order the surrender and confiscation of all privately owned firearms in the Philippines.

Goodbye Verzosa!

Today marks the exit cum "early retirement" of Gen Jesus Verzosa as Chief of the Philippine National Police. He is replaced by Gen. Raul Bacalzo as the new Chief PNP.Verzosa's term will go down in history as one of the worst terms for a Chief PNP. Particularly, his two failed Consultative Gun Summits accomplished nothing by way of a consensus among the gun community regarding reasonable and sound polices and regulations. Policies on carrying firearms became unreasonably stricter such as prohibited inside-the-waistband carry, bag requirement, gun free zones. Licensing fees likewise skyrocketed twice it's original amount and Likewise the fees for Permits to carry and to transport, while becoming more restrictive and longer to issue, became more expensive by 20%.
