Florida Shooter stopped by armed security officer, ex-cop.

This is a graphic video of a gunman whose intended shooting rampage was stopped by a school security officer and ex-cop who happened to be armed at a school board meeting. This is a perfect example of how the judicious use of a firearm in defense saved lives and prevented further tragedy from happening.

  1. CNN also has a report of the incident.

I was going to make a post about this yesterday but from a different angle: the spineless sheep sitting behind the desks.

Part of the way through this incident, female board member Ginger Littleton tried tackling the gunman while the men cowered behind the desk. They did absolutely nothing while the short-statured lady bravely tried to disarm him and remove the threat. Even when the gunman beat her to the ground and had his attention diverted, they stayed seated not bothering to come to her aid. Only another woman stepped up and requested if she could help Ms Littleton.

Sure, it’s easy to sit behind a computer and condemn those men from the safety of my comfortable home. However, time and again, these active shooter incidents demonstrate that you cannot sit back and do nothing. Someone has to stand up to the threat, otherwise people will die. If an armed security officer was not on-scene, the SWAT team could easily have walked in to a room full of bodies.

The lesson is clear: if you want to go home to your families, do something; attack, run or hide but don’t sit there waiting for help because it will arrive too late. It was only by pure luck that the man was a poor shot so no innocents died that day.

    1. “For evil to succeed all that men need to do is nothing” (or something like that, quoting Edmund Burke).

I spend some time in fron of my computer everyday, but since the incidents of home invasion in my area is quite common, I have an effective “counterforce” within arm’s length distance.  I just hope I don’t get beaten to the draw.

The police in my area has a SWAT Team, but they are at least 30 minutes to one hour away.

  2. As can be clearly seen by the extended video posted by RAJ, the police SWAT team arrived LATE WHEN IT WAS ALL OVER. Lesson: we must rely upon our own initiative to stop random violence like this. But if the citizenry are disarmed, how could we defend against criminal attacks like this?
