PROGUN SUPPORTS THE CALL TO ARMS BY THE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL PROSECUTION SERVICE AND THE OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL PROSECUTOR

The PEACEFUL RESPONSIBLE OWNERS OF GUNS fully supports the call of the members of the National Prosecution Service to be armed in the light of the recent assassination of Lanao Del Norte Provincial Prosecutor Macadatar Marsangca. Atty. Marsangca was shot in cold blood while he was jogging in Iligan City of the same province. The duty to prosecute criminal elements is as hazardous as arresting them but our prosecutors are not armed while they are discharging their functions. They should be armed all the times because the threat to their lives do not end after they leave their offices. The same is true with our special prosecutors. Fighting graft and corruption in government is as dangerous as putting common criminals to jail and this is impossible without the evidence prepared by graft investigators who are in direct contact with the government officials who are under investigation but protected by a squad of armed guards. PROGUN calls on the Ombudsman and the Office of the Special Prosecutor to arm their graft investigators and special prosecutors respectively.

In fact even lawyers are always at risk. They should be regularly issued Permit to Carry outside of Residence if they so desire.

The recent death of Prosecutor Marsangca, Judge Henrick Gingoyon and others more whose careers and lives were mercilessly snuffed out by assassins’ bullets should be a stark reminder that the sytematic disarmament of the State of peaceful responsible gunowners which includes judges, prosecutors and lawyers have a direct effect to the administration of justice in this country. The PNP has time and again failed to perform their sworn duty to serve and protect the citizenry and they should not be rewarded by allowing them to hide their follies by another gun ban and the continuing restrictive issuance of PTCFORS. The duty to protect ourselves is our primary function and not of the police authorities. Our official duties as judges, prosecutors and lawyers come in second.

WE SUPPORT THE CALL TO ARMS BY THE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL PROSECUTION SERVICE AND OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL PROSECUTOR.
