MANILA, Philippines—A 37-year-old woman died at a hospital early Thursday, a day after she jumped off a moving passenger jeepney to escape from several hold-up men in Manila.
Marian Lapinib, a vendor, of Mayhaligue corner Masangkay streets in Tondo, was declared dead by attending doctors at the Metropolitan Hospital around 1:20 a.m. Thursday due to internal hemorrhage after she hit her head on the pavement.
Lapinib was on her way to Divisoria to buy her wares when the incident occurred.
Police Officer 3 Rommel Miranda of the Manila Police District homicide section said that before her death, Lapinib had been one of several jeepney passengers who were held up at around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, inside the Divisoria-bound vehicle while it was at the corner of CM Recto Ave. and Jose Abad Santos St. in Tondo.
