CEBU, Philippines – A woman was stabbed by the paramour of her husband along Magsaysay St., Barangay Pasil, past 5 p.m. last Friday while she was on her way to the Pasil Barangay Hall.
Johndy Peligrino, 27, of sitio Puntod, Barangay Mambaling, was allegedly stabbed by Jandell Abellana, 19, a resident of Barangay Pasil, on her way to the barangay hall where she was supposed to settle her quarrel with Abellana the previous day.
Peligrino, who makes a living by operating an Automatic Tubig Machine and renting out computer games, said that she was riding on a trisikad with her sister when the alleged assailant and another woman, both armed with kitchen knives, blocked them as they were already approaching the barangay hall.
Abellana and her unidentified companion allegedly stabbed her in the back twice before they fled.
A barangay tanod took the victim to the Cebu Miller Hospital where she was confined for the stab wounds she sustained.
The victim told police that she had a brawl with the suspect last Thursday at the Cebu City jail in Barangay Kalunasan.
PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said that the two, who were at the jail to visit the victim’s husband, Danny, who was imprisoned for an illegal drugs case, accidentally met outside the jail.
Prior to that, the victim was surprised when her husband allegedly banned her from visiting him and only allowed Abellana to see him. Batucan said Peligrino knew her husband was having a relationship with Abellana.
When Peligrino met with Abellana outside the jail, she confronted her and the two got into a brawl.
After the incident, the suspect reported the matter to the Guadalupe Police Station whose personnel then referred the case to Barangay Pasil.
The victim decided to get a copy of the summons at the barangay hall and to also speak with the suspect for a settlement. She was on her way there when she was allegedly attacked.
Responding policemen went to the alleged assailant’s house but she they failed to locate her.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man and his two accomplices, shot dead another man who was boarding a jeepney along Colon St., Barangay Kalubihan, Cebu City, around 4 a.m. yesterday.
The fatality, according to a man who went to the funeral parlor yesterday and identified himself as a cousin, was a certain Zaldy Lebumfacil, a native of Toledo City.
According to the jeepney driver, Kynnoh Sasan, 22, he and his conductor, Ariel Mesias, 28, stopped in the area to call out for passengers.
While the victim was boarding their jeepney one of the men suddenly shot him at close range from outside.
The victim was already dead when he slumped to the ground.
Sasan then sped towards Barangay Mambaling to report the incident to the police who then recovered a .45 cal. shell inside the jeepney.
Responding policemen from the Mobile Patrol Group saw the victim lying lifeless on the road with a gunshot wound to the head.
His cadaver was later taken to the San Fernando Funeral Homes.
Rolito Mariamonte, a security guard of the funeral parlor, said that the man who claimed to be a cousin of the fatality promised to contact the victim’s family in Toledo City.
The cousin, whose name the funeral parlor failed to get, said that the victim used to go to his house in Barangay Bulacao. (THE FREEMAN)
