MANILA – A woman was seriously injured in a hostage-taking incident in Marikina City Tuesday evening.

Suspect Naarel Buena held his own relatives hostage. Before this, he stabbed his aunt at least 15 times.

The suspect’s aunt was able to get out of the house and call for help. She was brought to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect, who seemed drunk, was eventually arrested. Authorities said family problems led the suspect to hold members of his family hostage.
