BATANGAS CITY, Philippines—A 33-year-old manicurist died while a 17-year-old tricycle driver was wounded Sunday night when an unidentified gunman fired at the former in Lipa City, Batangas, police said Monday.
Senior Superintendent Alberto Supapo, Batangas police director, said manicurist Rosselle Malaluan was walking along the service road of JP Laurel Highway in Barangay (village) Balintawak at about 7 p.m. when she was shot several times by an assailant wearing a helmet and riding in a motorcycle with unknown plate number.
Malaluan was rushed to Medix Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician.
Johny Regalado, 17, who was driving a tricycle along the highway, was hit by a stray bullet fired by the same assailant.
Regalado managed to drive his motorcycle to his residence where he lost consciouness due to a head wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Lipa City police officers were hunting for the gunman.
