A retired air force officer was detained after mauling his son and wife at home in sitio Colo, barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
Rolando Salimbangon was arrested by barangay tanods after his wife, Lucia, asked for help Sunday evening.
About 10 p.m., Rolando came home drunk and beat up his son, Rolando Jr. 
The officer’s wife ran outside for help and caught the attention of barangay tanods passing by. 
The tanods arrested Rolando and had him detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office. 
SPO2 Rolando Pugoy said Lucia related that her husband would maul his family whenever he got drunk.
However, family members said they don’t plan to file charges, said Pugoy. /CORRESPONDENT JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
