SAN Juan, Batangas — A 36-year-old welder was shot several times by a drinking mate in Sitio Pontor, Bgy. Poctol, recently.

Chief Insp. Pablo M. Aguda Jr., OIC, identified the victim as Nelson Alday Mendoza, 36, of said place.

Police identified the suspects as  Ricardo Salamat Sadili, alyas “Karding, Kado and Hanep”, 40, married, driver, of same barangay.

Reports said that at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, a team led by Aguda, together with the investigators, immediately proceeded to the area where the victim along with the suspect were having a drinking session outside the suspect’s house.

Investigating officers PO3 Jeremy M. Ambita and PO1 Christopher R. Escabel said the victim and the suspect earlier had a conversation which later turned turn into a heated argument.  

The suspect went inside his house, took out a gun and shot the vicim three times, hitting the latter in the right thigh. He was taken to San Juan District Hospital. The suspect fled on foot.

Police recovered two fired cartridge cases for cal.  .45 at the scene.

Police are hunting the suspect.
