A WELDER was found dead with severe wounds in the head inside a fastcraft docked in barangay Talisay, Santander town last Saturday morning.

Police said they suspect that Nestor Deguma, 55, a native of Negros Oriental, had been dead for three days before he was found.

Deguma was one of the welders who worked a fastcraft owned by Quadro Alas Navigation Lines.

A follow-up operation led to the arrest of Alberto Capio, 36, of barangay Matotinao, Badian town.

Capio was wearing a shirt with blood stains when he was arrested, said police.

Police said Capio was suffering from mental illness. He allegedly admitted attacking the welder with an angle bar.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the attack.

Capio was detained at the Santander police station.
