A businessman in this landlocked province is in hiding after being tagged as the suspect in the death of two people Tuesday night, a belated police report said Thursday.
The victims were identified by Solano police chief Senior Inspector Joselito Buenaobra as Roldan Garcia, 28 and Dominador Galviso, 43, both tricycle drivers and residents of Caliat village in Quezon town.
Buenaobra have quoted witnesses as saying that the victims were both visibly intoxicated when they entered a videoke bar along an entertainment strip in Solano town and after downing several bottles of beer, began to heckle another customer identified as Malik Lima Ambay, a businessman residing in the town’s Quirino village.
After a heated argument, Garcia and Galviso reportedly approached and challenged to a fistfight Ambay who immediately drew a gun from his waist and started shooting at the two.
Reports indicated that the suspect fled on a motorcycle after the incident leaving behind spent shells from a .9mm caliber pistol.
Responding policemen rushed the victims to a hospital but attending physicians have declared the two dead-on-arrival.
Authorities suspects that Malik aka Michael who is believed to have migrated from Mindanao is being hidden by his relatives or friends to avoid arrest since he has failed to show up at his residence.
Temporary road checkpoints along the national highway have been set up while operatives are hot on the trail of the suspect, Buenaobra said. — Floro Taguinod/LBG, GMANews.TV
