Village exec slain
CAVITE, Philippines – A village councilor, who was seeking reelection in the barangay-youth elections this month, was gunned down in Imus on the eve of the formal filing of candidacies.
Nemencio Navarrette, a councilor in Barangay Malagasang, died of a bullet wound in his back after two unidentified men aboard a motorcycle shot him at around 7 a.m. Thursday, also in the said village, said Senior Supt. Danilo Maligalig, Cavite police director.
Imus police chief Supt. Joseph Arguelles said they were looking into “personal grudge” as a motive.
