A VILLAGE chief was shot dead while drinking with friends in Ilocos Norte Tuesday night.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesman Senior Supt Agrimero Cruz Jr., identified the victim as Francis Carino, 48, re-electionist Village Captain in Barangay 2, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.
Reports reaching Camp Crame showed the incident occurred at around 8:50 p.m. in the house of the victim’s neighbor.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim was having a drinking session with his friend when the suspects shot him several times in his body.
Carino was seen having an argument with one of the assailants that resulted to the shooting.
One of the suspects identified as Riccel Sison, 33, was arrested by policemen during their follow-up operation.
