A VILLAGE official was killed while one of his two companions was wounded in a gun attack in a remote village in Liloy town, Zamboanga del Norte, a police official said on Wednesday.
Zamboanga Peninsula police spokesman Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said the incident took place around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Candelaria, Liloy.
Slain was Felomino Fernandez, 51, the village chief of Tapalan, Salug town of the same province, Huesca said.
Wounded was Reynaldo Gumera and unharmed was Wilmer Tacloban.
Investigation showed the victims were taking their rest while harvesting mango near the residence of Germinigildo Aque when suddenly, three unidentified armed men appeared and opened fire, he said.
Tacloban was fortunate to escape unscathed while Fernandez was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the Liloy Integrated District Hospital, he said.
The suspects remain unidentified and are at large, he added.
