MANILA, Philippines — A couple who owns a videoke bar in Negros Occidental was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman inside their home, police said.

Authorities said the victims, identified as Ronilo and Amelita Pacheo, were shot inside their house in Barangay Bato in Sagay City.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) said the victims’ bodies, which sustained several gunshot wounds from a .9mm-caliber pistol, were found in the kitchen.

One of the waitresses in the victims’ videoke bar said the Pacheo couple was just talking outside their house when a man suddenly fired shots at them.

The two still tried to run with their six-year-old child but the suspect caught up, shooting them several times.

The child, meanwhile, was unharmed in the incident.

The waitress said the suspect was wearing a jacket and a baseball cap.

She said she already saw the man in their area.

Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez of the Sagay City Police said it is possible that the suspect was a former customer of the couple in the videoke bar and a resident of the same barangay.

The motive behind the killing, however, has yet to be identified. — Report from Yasmin Dormido, dzMM
