Bacoleño killed by neighbor

A man was stabbed dead by his neighbor at about 2 a.m. yesterday in Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City, over a misunderstanding.

Police identified the victim as Roger Villegas of Purok Busay, Brgy. Cabug, who succumbed to a lone stab wound on his chest.

Case investigator Police Officer 3 Meller Dionio said he and Senior Police Officer 4 Rodrigo Valles went to Purok Busay at about 3 a.m. on information from a concerned citizen that Villegas was seen lying beside the road.

Dionio identified the suspect as Richard Salvador, 34, who evaded arrest, and brought with him the bladed weapon he had used in the stabbing.

Initial investigation showed that Villegas was able to run about 30 feet away from Salvador after he had been stabbed, but fell to the ground and died because of his fatal stab wound.

A hot pursuit operation failed to arrest Salvador but the police said homicide charges will be filed against him.

Villegas’ body was brought to the Alisbo Memorial Chapels at Lacson Street, Bacolod.

Meanwhile, a woman sustained injuries on her right palm when the person she was fighting with, allegedly stabbed her at Gonzaga-Locsin Streets, Bacolod City at about 7 a.m. yesterday.

Ma. Luz Diwatin, 50, of Purok 12, Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod identified her assailant as a certain “Nening”.*APN
