A tricycle driver was arrested for the brutal killing and rape of a six-year-old neighbor in Victorias City in Negros Occidental province last Sunday. The suspect was charged before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, Monday.

According to Victorias police head Superintendent Alexander Muñoz the six-year-old victim’s body was found 11 a.m. Sunday, under a bed in the suspect’s makeshift hut, news site Visayan Daily Star reported Tuesday.  The hut is located in New Barrio, Barangay 16-A.

Also, a pair of slippers left at the bathroom of the victim’s home was traced to the suspect. Police theorized the victim was going to the bathroom, which is a structure separate from the house, when the suspect waylaid her.

The victim had been reported missing since Saturday morning.

An autopsy showed the victim died of suffocation and of hemorrhage due to genital lacerations. The latter allegedly indicated the victim was molested.

The suspect was invited for questioning and confessed to the crime. He also confessed to striking the victim in the face and mouth, the report quoted police as saying. — DVM, GMA News
