A TRAFFIC enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and his companion were arrested after they and two other suspects allegedly robbed a taxi driver in Sta. Ana, Manila, at dawn yesterday.
Bryan Kevin Gray, 21, a casual employee of the MMDA, and Ryan Mendoza, 20, were positively identified by Henie Delos Santos, 45, driver of Barquia taxi (PYJ-599), as two of the four men who robbed him.
Police station 6 commander Supt. Ricardo Layug, said the suspects posed as passengers and flagged down the taxi past 4 a.m. in front of a Petron office in Pandacan.
The suspects told the driver to take them to the nearby Tejeron St., in Sta. Ana. However, they declared a hold-up upon reaching the corner of Tejeron and Syquia Sts. They took the driver’s earnings amounting to P2,500 and a mobile phone worth P1,500.
Delos Santos said the suspects casually walked away after robbing him.
Elements of Sta. Ana police station anti-crime unit arrested Gray and Mendoza minutes after the driver reported the robbery. However, their two cohorts escaped.
