MANILA, Philippines – A teenager was shot dead while sitting in front of a store in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City, before dawn Thursday.

Police said the killing of Ronald Serrano, 16, could have been part of an ongoing gang war in the area.

“Talamak ang kaguluhan dito eh. Alam niyo naman ang [lagay] ng peace and order dito,” police investigator Dennis Fernandez told ABS-CBN News.

Based on initial investigations, Serrano was sitting in front of a store along Kalayaan Street when a lone gunman pumped bullets at his body.

A relative of the victim suspects that the shooter is connected to a group of vigilantes.
