A barangay tanod was killed while his wife narrowly escaped death in a gun attack staged by an unidentified gunman along the border of Calabasa and Buenavista last Tuesday night.
Police identified the fatality as Benhar Sahi y Jammang, 47, married. He sustained bullet wounds in the body and was taken to the Quiniput Emergency Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
A police report disclosed that Sahi and his wife Flordeliz were seated at a market stall near their house and were selling fish around 7:50 p.m., when a gunman appeared and opened fire on them.
Flordeliz managed duck for cover while her husband slumped on the ground with bullet wounds in the body.
The gunman disappeared in the dark while Benhar was rushed to the hospital by his wife with the help of some people.
Recovered at the crime scene were spent shells of .45 caliber pistol.
The Curuan police were still trying to determine the identity of the killer for his immediate arrest.
