A BARANGAY tanod was shot dead by a 17-year-old boy following a fistfight in barangay Bulak, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu at dawn yesterday.

Antonio Acosta, 30, died of a gunshot wound in the face.

The boy fled after shooting the tanod.

Police said the tanod and the boy figured in an argument that led to a fistfight.

Because of his size, the tanod overpowered the boy.

The boy went home after the fight but returned after armed with a gun.

In barangay Cantulanoy, Sibonga town, a man was shot dead while sleeping around 10 p.m. on Saturday .

Pablio Botaslac Jr., 24, bore several gunshot wounds when found inside the house of his sister.

Police said no one was able to see the assailant since the attack happened during a brownout and a heavy downpour.
