Talisay traffic enforcer shot
(The Freeman) Updated February 12, 2010 12:00 AM
CEBU, Philippines – A traffic enforcer in Talisay City was shot by unidentified gunmen yesterday night in barangay Tabunok.
The enforcer was identified as Roel Capala, married, resident of barangay Cansojong and a nephew of Talisay City Councilor Aaron Capala. The bullet hit the back of his head. He was first brought to the Talisay District Hospital, but was later transferred to the Chong Hua Hospital due to the severity of his situation.
PO3 Mikie Espina, one of those who responded to the incident, said Capala was walking towards the post of his fellow traffic enforcer when two men on board a motorcycle arrived. Without a word, the man riding in pillion opened fire at the victim.
The assailants subsequently sped towards the south of the city. Espina said it is possible that the shooting was job-related because several drivers were reportedly angry at the victim. Investigation is ongoing on the incident. — Brenda D. Batuto/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
