A grudge over a basketball game led a man to hack his neighbor.

Jerome Entoma, 29, of barangay Kawayan, Talisay City suffered hack wounds in his face after Wilfredo Vergara, hacked him with a bolo.

Vergara, who surrendered to authorities after the attack, said he was standing near his house when a drunk Entoma arrived in the area.

Entoma then and tried to embarrass and punch Vergara. To avoid trouble, Vergara went home but Entoma followed him. When he closed the door of the house, Entoma allegedly kicked the door causing Vergara to fall down. This angered Vergara, who went to the kitchen, got a bolo, and hacked Entoma.

Neighbors rushed Entoma to the hospital while Vergara surrendered to Talisay police./Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc
