MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) – A Taiwannese was short dead in a burglary attack in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, local police said on Sunday.
At least three armed men barged into the house of Tai Guan Te, a 54-year-old Taiwaness, in Talabaan village in Zamboanga City late Friday. They ransacked the house and shot Tai and fled, police said.
The Taiwaness, who married a Filipino woman, run a small poultry farm in the village, was shot in the head and died before reaching the hospital. The police launched a manhunt operation against the suspects, local media reports.
Police did not release any details about the foreigner or how long had he been living in Zamboanga City.
Some embassies advised their citizens against traveling to Zamboanga City and in some parts in the southern Philippines because of threats of kidnappings and terrorism.
