A suspended policeman was arrested by his colleagues after he stole the vehicle of a businessman Sunday in Caloocan City.
Charged with robbery- holdup and carnapping before the City Prosecutor’s Office was PO2 Herminio Frias, 34, of 125 Sales St., Bgy. 100, Caloocan City, and formerly detailed at the District Anti-Illegal Drugs (DAID) of the Northern Police District (NPD).
Chief Insp. Rod Soriano, Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB) head of the Caloocan City police, said the cases stemmed from the complaint lodged by businessman Robert Galon, of 27 Palon St., Bgy. 70, Caloocan City.
Soriano led a team that arrested Frias during follow-up operation.
Galon claimed he was cruising Francisco St., Bgy. 70 last Sunday at 4:15 a.m. on board his Mitsubishi Monterosport when Frias and his unidentified companion blocked his path.
Frias at gunpoint forcibly took his clutch bag containing Php100,000.
“Habang nakatutok sa akin ang baril, inutusan nila akong bumaba sa sasakyan ko at saka nila ito tinangay,” Galon told investigators.
He immediately reported the incident to the police.
Galon positively identified Frias through the photo gallery of the suspected criminals.
Soriano said former NPD Director Antonio Decano ordered Frias’ suspension following his involvement to various criminal activities.
