COTABATO CITY – A spot report made by Cotabato City Police Station 2, revealed that robbery with a shooting incident happened at about 2:49 p.m. of May 27 along Garcia street corner Governor Gutierrez Avenue, RH-7, Cotabato City.

The victims were identified as Kabiba Mael, treasurer of a certain municipality, Bayan Guialakas, driver and PO1 Samer Mael, a policeman assigned in Camiguin, Caraga, Negros and all said to be residents of Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.

The city police investigation revealed that treasurer Mael had just stepped out of the bank where she had allegedly withdrawn P3.7 million in cash and walked towards their parked vehicle nearby in the said area.

As Kabiba sat at the back seat of the vehicle, an unidentified man suddenly barged in and grabbed the shoulder bag carried by the latter which supposedly contained P10,000 in cash, 2 cellular phones and some important documents.

However the suspects allegedly failed to grab the P3.7 million in  cash.

Another man allegedly poked and fired his caliber .45 pistol at PO1 Samer Mael who was sitting beside the driver’s seat of the said vehicle.

Bayan Guialakas, the driver of the vehicle was allegedly shocked but swiftly grabbed Samer’s handgun who was seriously wounded.

Guialakas allegedly fired at the unknown suspects who were then fleeing but were immediately picked up by another person on board a motorcycle with no plate and fled to unknown direction.

PO1 Mael was immediately brought to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center for medical treatment.

Seven empty shells of a caliber .45 ammunition were recovered from the crime scene even as a pursuit operation was made by POI Noel Gutierrez.

SPO3 Armando S. Abasolo said that the suspects apparently were knowledgeable on the cash withdrawal of Treasurer Kabiba.
