ZAMBOANGA – The mayor of Banguingui (formerly Tongkil), Sulu was arrested in his home in Barangay Baliwasan Tuesday morning.
Personnel of the Detective Management Unit of Zamboanga City Police Office served the warrant of arrest against Mayor Abdulwahid Sahidulla.
Sahidulla and his three other companions were charged with arson under criminal case number 476-25 issued by presiding Judge Alsad Alfad of Jolo on March 22.
According to Sr. Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, the court recommends “no bail bond,” so he directed his personnel to continue the operation against the subject.
In a phone interview, Sahidulla said he believes that his opponents in politics are behind the alleged black propaganda.
He is running for the gubernatorial seat in Sulu province in the coming May 2013 elections against the son of incumbent Governor Abdusakur Tan.
Despite the arrest, Sahidulla disclosed that he is not withdrawing from the gubernatorial race.
He said his lawyers will take legal action on the matter.
