A lone gunman shot dead the owner of a ready-to-wear clothes store on Osmeña Boulevard, barangay Sto. Nino, Cebu City early morning yesterday.
Richard Villamor, 53, owner of Annie- Dhongs RTW, died on the spot with gunshot wounds in the head.
Police said Villamor was preparing to display store merchandise around 8 a.m. when a man wearing a closed-face helmet arrived and shot him twice in the head.
The gunman ran off after shooting the victim, said police.
Two empty shells of a .9mm pistol were recovered at the crime scene.
Police are still investigating the motive of the killing.
PO2 Michael Codaste, homicide investigator of the Cebu City police, said the victim’s girlfriend has yet to talk to investigators as she was still in a state of shock.
Sablani Pakasi, 47, a security guard of the Osmeña Building where the victim was a tenant, said he never heard of reports that Villamor had an enemy.
“Buotan man kuno na siya. Hilomon sad (He was a good man, the silent type),” said PO2 Codaste.
Police said they were looking into reports that Villamor’s brother was shot last year in Mindanao. It was not clear whether that was connected to yesterday’s attack.
