MANILA, Philippines – A drunken stevedore was stabbed dead at a videoke bar in Ermita, Manila Sunday night by two of his drinking mates after he boasted that he could kill them anytime he wishes.
The threat did not sit well with Manuel Regal, 65, and Cerilo Tipace, 60, self-confessed members of Batang City Jail gang, so they took turns in stabbing Regulo Tacrin, an employee of Tacoma Integrated Port Services, a stevedoring firm at the North Harbor.
After the stabbing, the two men escaped, while the victim was declared dead on arrival at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, according to case investigator Senior Police Officer 4 Virgilio Martinez.
Ermita police station chief Superintendent Jose Hidalgo Jr. launched a manhunt for the two suspects, who were arrested at their hiding place at the Baseco Compound in Port Area.
“I commend the barangay officials in Baseco Compound who cooperated with my policemen in tracking down the whereabouts of the two suspects,” Hidalgo said.
