A 31-year-old stevedore was shot dead by his own cousin yesterday morning in Tondo, Manila.

Investigation showed that the incident stemmed from the fight that their wives previously had.

Ruel Gomba, of Squatters Colony, Road 10, Vitas, Tondo, died instantly while his cousin Ivy Gambo, 24, a vendor and also residing in the same area, escaped after the shooting.

PO3 Jupiter Tajonera of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the incident took place at around 5 a.m. in front of the suspect’s house.

Witnesses told probers that at first, the wives of the victim and the suspect had an argument regarding trash disposal.  The argument turned physical and moments later, their respective husbands were the ones already arguing until cooler heads intervened.

Unknown to the victim, the suspect harbored ill feelings and yesterday, just as he was about to go to work, the victim was shot dead.
