MANILA (UPDATE) – An assistant provincial prosecutor was shot dead in Batangas City on Thursday morning.
Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Alexander Sandoval was shot dead along a highway in Barangay Muzon in San Luis town, near the boundary of Santa Teresita town, at around 11 a.m.
Sandoval, 40, died on the spot after sustaining at least 9 gunshot wounds.
The two suspects, on board a motorcycle, immediately fled the scene. They abandoned their motorcycle several kilometers away from the crime scene.
A pursuit operation has been launched against the suspects.
Sandoval was on his way home after attending a court hearing when the ambush was carried out. – report from Arnell Ozaeta, dzMM
