On or about 9:00 in the evening of October 8, 2013 at Barangay East Poblacion, Manukan, Zamboanga Del Norte, one Virgilio Nitre y Loyloy, 46 years old, separated, pedicab driver and a resident of said place was stabbed by Tolentino Sugabo y Arapoc, 42 years old, separated, former security guard and a resident of Barangay Buenavesta, Mutia, Zamboanga Del Norte using a hunting knife measuring ten point five (10.5) inches long including the handle.
The victim sustained two stab wounds in his left chest that caused his instantaneous death.
Initial investigation conducted disclosed that prior to the incident, victim went to their house in Barangay East Poblacion to visit and bring food for his two sons namely: Mark Lester, 17 years old and Juanever, 16 years old.
Upon arrival at their house, the suspect believed to have a relationship with the victim’s wife identified as Diana Dinopol y Paglinawan, 47 was seen and caught by the latter inside their room which resulted to a commotion between them.
At the height of their scuffle, the suspect who was armed with a hunting knife eventually stabbed the victim two times and then fled towards unknown direction.
Meanwhile, at about 8:00 in the morning of October 9, 2013, elements of Manukan Police Station launch a manhunt operation against the suspect resulting to his arrest at the vicinity of Barangay Don Jose Aguirre, Manukan, Zamboanga Del Norte.
Recovered from his possession and control was the hunting knife used in stabbing the victim.
He was immediately brought and detained at said police station detention cell pending filing of appropriate charges in court.
