CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – Three people, including a retired Navy officer and an active policeman, were killed on Tuesday and Wednesday by unidentified men in separate shooting incidents in the province, it was reported on Thursday.
Police reports said that two incidents happened in Dasmariñas City while the other in Cavite City.
The fatalities were identified as one Romeo T. Musni, 53, a retired Philippine Navy major, of Barangay Sampaloc II, Dasmariñas; a certain Police Officer II Eillor Delima, 33, reportedly a member of Police Regional Office IV-A Intelligence Unit and resident of Barangay San Agustin II, Dasmariñas; and one Dante Parnala Jr., 47, a businessman, of San Antonio, Cavite City.
The first victim was Musni who was shot in head and body by a man with a .45 caliber pistol in Don Gregorio Heights Subdivision last Tuesday night.
In a report to PPO, Supt. Joseph Barias Peñaflor, Dasmariñas police officer-in charge, said that Musni died on the spot.
Peñaflor, citing a report of Musni’s wife Sonia, 32, said that the victim was having an argument with the man when shots rang out.
The gunman fled after the attack.
Senior Inspector Fernando Perilla, Scene of the Crime Operation (SoCO) team leader, recovered three .45 caliber shells at the crime scene.
Another report said that POII Delima was shot by two motorcycle-riding men outside his house in Barangay San Agustin II.
The motive of the attack has yet to be determined.
The third fatality, Parnala, was shot in the chest by a man with 9mm pistol when he rushed to rescue one Alex P. Manglapus, 69, a jeweler, during a holdup at the corner of Cajigas Street and P. Burgos Avenue in Cavite City past 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Parnala died on the spot.
Case investigator Police Officer 3 Rodel Noo Buitizon said that shooting came after Manglapus was robbed of assorted jewelries, P30,000 cash in a wallet and pertinent papers in the area.
There were at least three men involved in the heist, initial repoirt said.
Police records showed that crime incidents were prevalent in the province in the last few days with most of perpetrators still at large.
Residents urged Director General Alan Purisima, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, to look into the incidents and determine if there is the so-called crime wave in the area.
“We noticed the incidents every now and then. There is lack of crime prevention, shooting incidents just keep on happening in the area, something must be done about it,” said an observer who requested anonymity.
