AN Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) official was victimized by a notorious snatcher in Pasig City the other day.

SPO4 Raul Casino, chief of the Follow-Up Unit of the Pasig City police, identified the victim as Maj. Jovy Ladislao, 47, assigned at AFP Medical Office,  of 126 Santol St., Bgy. Cembo, Makati City.

The suspect, identified as Jerome Garcia, alias Botong, 18, of 13 GSIS Road, Catalina Subd., Tramo, Bgy. Rosario, Pasig City, was arrested during follow-up operation led by SPO2 Ariel Galvelo.

Galvelo said Garcia has pending warrant of arrest for robbery/snatching issued by Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 261 Judge Leili Cruz.

At around 1 a.m. Saturday, the victim was walking along Jenny’s Avenue in Bgy. Rosario towards his Toyota Vios when the suspect suddenly appeared.

When the victim was about to open the door, Garcia grabbed his Louis Vuitton bag containing Php4,000, Samsung XY cellphone worth Php40,000, Black Berry (Php45,000), ATM card, credit cards and PRC license ID.

The suspect quickly fled while the victim reported the incident to the police. He was identified by the victim through a police rogue gallery.

Operatives conducted an operation and arrested the suspect in front of a sari-sari store in Catalina Subd., Bgy Rosario. He yielded a kitchen knife.

The suspect was detained at the Pasig City Jail facing charges of illegal possession of deadly weapon and robbery/snatching before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.
