A security guard yesterday shot dead an 18-year-old man after he was found trespassing inside a compound of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage Systems (MWSS) early yesterday morning.
Investigator PO3 Randy Bantillo identified the suspect as Jerome Ponce, 18, a construction worker currently residing at 86 Ibaba, Kaingin 2, Bgy. Pansol.
Bantillo said that Ponce was shot and killed by Virgilio Gonzales Jr., a guard of the Star Special Corporate Security Management, who is assigned at the MWSS compound located in Kaingin 2.
The investigator said that Ponce died after being hit in the stomach and buttocks.
Though Ponce was shot, Bantillo still managed to run away from the chasing guard until he finally fell at the creekside near the Orosa swimming pool also in Kaingin 2.
Bantillo said that he has yet to talk to Gonzales to get the full account of what had happened.
He was only told that the guard was already off duty and had been sent home despite the fact that Gonzales had killed a man.
Guard officer-in-charge Harry Romano told police that Gonzales was conducting his routine rounds in the compound when he spotted Ponce roaming inside the compound.
