On or about 1:13 PM, July 4, 2013, elements of Liloy Municipal Police Station, Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office received a call from a concern citizen and reported that shooting incident transpired at Barangay Dela Paz, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.

 
Immediately, elements of the said police station led by SPO4 Rene B Sagan under the supervision of Police Chief Inspector JOSEPH REALES MAULAD, Chief of Police, proceeded to the above-mentioned place and conducted investigation.
The responding police have identified the victim as Rolando Enong Balanay, 52 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.
He was shot by Rey Laňojan, of legal age, married and resident of same place with the use of unknown firearm, wherein, he sustained gunshot wound at the buttock.
Victim was brought to Liloy Integrated Health District Hospital for medical treatment, while suspect immediately escaped and fled towards unknown direction.
Investigation conducted disclosed that prior to the incident at around 1:10 PM of same date, suspect while under the influenced of liquor had a heated argument with the victim, after which, he pulled-out a handgun and then shot the victim once.
Liloy Municipal Police Station is conducting manhunt operation against the suspect, while appropriate charges are being filed in court against him.
