CALASIAO, Pangasinan–A schools district supervisor and her husband were shot dead Monday inside their car minutes after they stopped by a gasoline station here to refuel.
Senior Superintendent Marlou Chan, provincial police director, identified the victims as Dr. Lilita Rancudo, 60, Calasiao II schools district supervisor, and her husband Rolando Rancudo.
The Rancudos had just come from a regular meeting with school principals at Barangay (village) Songkoy here.
They were on their way to the division office in Lingayen town aboard their Ford Focus sedan when they decided to stop to refuel at a gas station in at Barangay Macabito here at about 1 p.m.
Police said minutes after they stopped, a man walked from a motorcycle towards the front of their car, drew a gun and fired.
Supt. Noel Vallo, police chief here, said Rancudo was hit in the forehead, while her husband was hit in the body.
Susan Espinosa, 38, one of the two school principals who hitched in Rancudo’s car, was hit in the leg. The other, Robina Brillantes, 40, was unscathed.
The Rancudos were immediately taken to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City but doctors there pronounced them dead on arrival.
