Even a convent was not spared, and on Holy Week at that.
A group of armed men on Holy Tuesday carted away some P300,000 in payroll money in a brazen daylight robbery at the Missionary Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit in Quezon City.
Police investigators are not discounting the possibility of an inside job involving the convent’s employees, according to a radio dzBB report.
Police are tracking down at least five suspects, radio dzBB’s Rodil Vega reported.
The report said the P300,000 was meant for the payroll of the employees of the convent-school at 8 Poinsettia Road in Cubao in Quezon City.
A separate report on GMA News’ “24 Oras” said the incident occurred at about 2 p.m.
Tuesday’s robbery came two days before the Holy Triduum, when the nation commemorates the Passion and death of Christ.
Inside job?
Quezon City Police District Station 10 head Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr. was quoted in a dzBB update that there was no sign of forced entry at the convent’s Gate 2.
Pedrozo was also quoted in the report as saying that the robbers appeared to know where the treasury and accounting office was.
He also noted they knew the convent had just withdrawn the payroll money.
Pedrozo said they may invite at least one employee for investigation. — KBK, GMA News
