Four armed robbers staged a robbery inside a bus and killed a passenger who refused to give his valuables Wednesday afternoon in Pasay City.
Senior Supt. Raul Petrasanta, Pasay police chief, identified the fatality as William Cruz, a resident of Makati City. He suffered a lone bullet wound on his right chest and died on the spot.
Other bus passengers who lost their cash and valuables were identified as Melvin Burgos, 27, of Bicutan, Taguig; Lynn Holly Burgos, 27, of Maricaban, Pasay City; Dennis Ray, 31, of Ayala, Makati City; and Analyza Lagarico, 42, of DasmariƱas, Cavite.
The four suspects who eluded arrest are now the subject of a manhunt by the police.
Police said the incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday along Roxas Boulevard corner San Luis, Pasay City.
According to bus driver Rafael Espinar, 35, he was driving the ANC Transit with plate number TVZ-223 heading northbound and upon arriving San Luis, one of the passengers alighted.
From there, the four suspects boarded the bus and later two of them pulled out handguns and announced the heist.
Espinar said Cruz refused to give his valuables prompting one of the suspects to shoot him at close range.
Immediately right after Cruz was shot, the suspects alighted from the passenger bus and scampered in different directions taking away their loot.
