MANILA — Police are now hunting the four suspects who held up a jewelry store inside SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, Saturday evening.
SM Supermalls management said no one was hurt in the incident that occurred around 7:40 p.m. “Robbery at jewelry counter SM Megamall. No casualties,” the mall management said in its Twitter account.
SM Supermalls president Annie Garcia said suspects pulled out a hammer at the counter of F & C Jewelry and quickly carried out the robbery. The hammer was reportedly bought from one of the stores inside the mall.
No estimate yet on the worth of jewelry stolen, Garcia said.
Police immediately rushed to the scene of the incident but suspects were able to escape after firing several shots that sent shoppers to panic.
Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos said mall operations have returned to normal few minutes after the incident. He said police are now conducting hot pursuit operation against the suspects.
Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen, city police chief, said they will review footages from the closed-circuit television cameras installed near the scene of the incident. (Sunnex)
