Police Regional Office 1 director Chief Supt. Orlando M. Mabutas ordered a thorough inquiry into the robbery at the Rural Bank Corp. Reports said that bank manager Richard Vinluan and security guard Sherwin Gamlao discovered the heist when they reported to work past 7 a.m.

Probers said the suspects passed through a drainage canal connected at the side of the building and bore a hole leading to the bank and the vault room.
