AN Jose City, Nueva Ecija – A suspected member of a robbery-holdup syndicate was found dead with a gunshot wound in the head near a ricefield Friday night.

Police identified the fatality  as Alfredo Ondivilla, 36, of Zone 1, Sitio Tumana, Barangay Palestina, this city.  

A passer-by, John Paul, of Barangay Culaylay, discovered the body  at 9:50 p.m. in Zone 3, Barangay Palestina.

City police chief Supt. Sidney N. Villaflor said the victim was last seen drinking with a friend, Jake Saquing. At 7 p.m., the duo went to a riverbank to test-fire an M-16 Baby Armalite rifle allegedly owned by the victim.

On their way home on board a tricycle, the duo passed by Villa Lagmay resort where  they were fired upon by unidentified men, killing Ondivilla on the spot.

Police have yet to ascertain the motive for the shooting. He said Saquing immediately went into hiding and could not  be located.

The police chief tagged the victim as an alleged member of a robbery-holdup gang with pending murder and two frustrated murder cases before the courts.

Villaflor said the victim was also among personalities targette d for neutralization by the police.
