Dead on the spot was Romulo Arcana, 61, while fighting for her life in the hospital was Carmelita, 57.

A police report disclosed that the couple were aboard an owner-type jeep about 6 p.m. on their way to Pagadian City, when one of two men riding tandem on a motorcycle opened fire on them.

According to the report, the gunmen riding on a Honda XRM motorcycle tailed the couple and upon reaching a deserted area they sidled up the victims motorcycle and opened fire on them using a .45 caliber pistol.

The gunmen escaped towards Zamboanga Sibugay area. Concerned residents rushed the couple to the hospital where Romulo was declared dead on arrival from two gunshot wounds in the chest and face.

Carmelita sustained a gunshot on her left shoulder.
