MANILA – A retired policeman was shot dead while about to board his motorcycle at the back of the Samar Provincial Capitol in Catbalogan City Tuesday morning.

The victim was identified as 59-year-old Severino Solis. He suffered a bullet wound on the head and body.

Chief Inspector Emiliano Pedrigal, deputy Chief of police of the Catbalogan City Police, said the suspects knew the victim’s activities and waited for him outside the tennis court.

The victim’s family was shocked by the incident, adding that they do not know anyone who may have a grudge against the retired cop.

“Hindi namin inaasahan ito na mangyayari dahil wala itong kagalit,” said Imelda Solis, the victim’s wife.

The victim was a former intelligence office of the Samar Police Provincial Office.
