At least 30 suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels raided a mining firm’s office in Camarines Norte province in the Bicol Region before dawn on Thursday, taking several firearms before fleeing.

Radio dzXL reported no one was hurt in the 3 a.m. attack in the administration building of Eldore Mining Corp. at Dumangmang village in Labo town.

Sketchy police reports indicated the NPA rebels caught the private security guards by surprise and disarmed them before entering the administration building.

The incident prompted local police to tighten security in the area.
