CANDELARIA, Quezon — Police operatives on Monday seized suspected  metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P900,000 during a search operation at the house of a suspected big-time drug pusher in Bgy. Malabanban Sur, here.

Quezon police director Senior Supt. Ronald Ylagan said elements of Quezon Provincial PublicSafety Company led by its commander, Supt. Ranser Evasco, arrested Virgilio Cueto, 64.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Lucena City Regional Trial Court Branch 58 Executive Judge Eloida de Leon- Diaz, Ylagan said the raid was carried out at 4 a.m. and witnessed bybarangay officials.

The raid yielded 27 heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about 80 grams with an estimated market value of P900,000. Also seized were a digital weighing scale and three live ammunition for cal. .45 gun, he said.

The suspect will be charged with  violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and violation of RA 8294 pending the results of the examination being conducted by the Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office in Lucena City on the seized suspected drugs.

Ylagan said the successful drugs seizure is a result of their intensified campaign against illegal drugs in the province.

He vowed to get rid of more drug pushers and users in the coming days.

It was learned from Evasco that they first arrested the suspect in 2008 over similar offense. He said the suspect was jailed for four years but was ordered released by the court.

“I was then the chief of police of Candelaria when we arrested him,” said Evasco in a phone interview.

He said in March this year, the suspect was again arrested by police operatives over drug charges but the former, again, managed to post bail.

Evasco added that the suspect’s son was also arrested recently by the authorities for the same offense and is still in jail up to now.
