MANILA, Philippines – A provincial prosecutor was shot dead by armed men riding a motorcycle this morning in Lanao del Norte province, a police official said.

Speaking over a radio program, Iligan City police chief Senior Superintendent Bernardo Reamon said Prosecutor Macatatar Marsangca was on his way home around 7 a.m. along with other joggers when he was fired on by the assailants in front of a plaza in Brgy. Tugod.

The suspects sped away from the scene after the incident, Reamon said.

The police official said the slain prosecutor has previously received death threats before he was gunned down.
