Authorities have rescued a 3-year-old girl following the arrest of her 53-year-old abductor at a Cubao bus station on Friday morning.
A police statement identified the suspect as Baby Nelda Diwa, of Novaliches, Quezon City, who abducted the victim on January 23.
The police statement also said the victim’s mother had reported that Diwa threatened to kill her child if she didn’t give in to her ‘demand.’
The kidnapping stemmed from love issues between Diwa and the cousin of the vctim’s mother, according to PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group official, Superintendent Emma Libunao.
On January 23, the suspect told the victim’s mother that she was going to buy chocolates for her daughter inside a supermarket in Valenzuela City. The two, however, never returned.
The victim’s mother said she trusted the suspect since she knew her as the ex-girlfriend of her cousin.
In exchange for the freedom of the girl, the suspect allegedly demanded that the parents of the victim convince her ex-lover to come back to her.
This is where the victim’s parents sought the help of the CIDG.
