A police chief inspector was killed by a still unidentified gunman on Wednesday in Cagayan, a local police official said.
Police Chief Inspector Hector Balinuyus, 37, died in the hospital after he was shot about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, by a lone gunman in front of an auto supply shop in Tuguegarao City, according to Police Senior Superintendent Mao Aplasca, the Cagayan police director.
The gunman fled through a motorcycle after the shooting incident and is currently being pursued by the police, the provincial police director said.
Three empty shells from a cal-.45 handgun was recovered from the crime scene, according to Aplasca.
Aplasca likewise said a task force has already been formed to look into the shooting incident.
Balinuyus, formerly Solana town police chief, was said to be a known critic of local government officials and business leaders in the province. — with Andreo Calonzo/RSJ/KBK, GMANews.TV
