Police colonel wounded in ambush
MANILA, Philippines—A police colonel was wounded when unidentified gunmen attacked him in broad daylight in Quezon City Wednesday noon, police said.
In a phone interview, Senior Police Officer 2 Jorge Villanueva, desk officer of Kamuning police station, said Superintendent Napoleon Cauayan was shot by three unidentified suspects at Magalang Street in East Avenue past 12 p.m.
Cauayan, who is assigned at the Personnel Holding and Administration Unit at the main police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City, was reportedly in civilian clothes and was walking along the street when two men on board a motorcycle and another on board a red Mitsubishi Adventure without a license plate approached him and shot him, Villanueva said.
Cauayan was brought to V. Luna Hospital and is now in stable condition, Villanueva said.
